FIRST YIPYAP FLYER

2nd / 16th October 1993

The first ever flyer for YipYap. Peter S from Brooklyn who has played at Shelter, The Paradise Garage and The Sound Factory was a guest the first week. I was a guest the week after, and was asked to become resident along with Gareth from then on. I would say one of the reasons YipYap did so well was down to its policy of only using occaisional guest dj's, and even then only if they complimented the musical ethos of the club. The fashion for most other house clubs accross Britain at the time was to have one or two guests every week, often with completely opposing styles of music. By being different YipYap really built up a good relationship with its regulars in terms of breaking new records and creating an atmosphere. DJ Pierre (of Strictly Rhythm / Wildpitch fame), Roc & Kato and Miles Hollway and Elliot Eastwick from Hard Times were the best guests at YipYap for me. Miles and Elliot reckoned that along with Kaos in Portugal Yip Yap was their favourite club in the world to play at. Roc and Kato claimed that, in terms of atmosphere, it was on a par with Angels of Love in Naples.
